New Series: Planted

For several weeks, we’ve devoted our services to examining the gifts of the Holy Spirit and how the Lord works in and through us. The motivation for all Spiritual Gifts is love:

Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing.
1 Corinthians 13:1-3 (NKJV)

Love is not only the underpinning of Spiritual Gifts, but elsewhere the Apostle Paul talks about love as fruit of the Spirit:

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.
Galatians 5:22-23 (NKJV)

Jesus admonished His followers to judge a prophet by the fruit he bears:

Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Therefore by their fruits you will know them.
Matt. 7:15-20

5twelve City Church was planted in central Austin to bear much fruit for the Lord. You, too, are planted in your neighborhood, workplace, and social circles to bear fruit. We are looking forward to unpacking what it means to flourish where we are planted.

Join us Sunday 8/18 at The Fed – we look forward to seeing you THRIVE.
